Here’s what matters today in wrestling 👇

It’s Royal Rumble Week, which means that WWE fans are either digging around looking for surprises or trying to avoid them at all costs. WWE is doing their best to keep secrets, as the talent is flying to Saudi Arabia as I type this. More will be flying over on private planes throughout the week. I understand fans that don’t want to be surprised and get mad when they come across a spoiler…but then I wonder why they’re telling us this on the Internet. We at 411 do our best to avoid spoiling people that don’t want to be spoiled, but not every website takes that same approach. And even for those of us that try, things slip through the cracks.

International shows are especially tough to keep secrets for, as wrestlers especially tend to stand out in places like Saudi Arabia. If Omos is going to be booked as a surprise, it’s going to be tough to hide him in an airport or anywhere else. Tiffany Stratton doesn’t look like most women you’ll find in Riyadh, right? Private flights will help, but stuff’s still going to get out. My best advice to wrestling fans that are super against getting spoiled is to re-join social media after the Royal Rumble. Stick with us.

It wasn’t too long ago when we were talking about Rey & Dominik maybe having a big money match at a PLE sometime down the road, whether it be for AAA or WrestleMania or whatever. Now both men are on the shelf. Obviously it’s nobody’s fault and nobody could have predicted it, but it’s another example of what can happen when wrestling companies wait too long to do a match. Hopefully Rey & Dom can both come back soon, but it’s fair to wonder if they’ll ever get to have that big money-drawing match they want. Ah, who am I kidding, Rey always comes back.

I thought Undertaker working creative for a lucha company was an odd fit at first, but it seems to be working well. Undertaker’s name carries a lot of respect throughout the wrestling world, and luchadores are more than willing to listen to his advice. So far, the WWE version of AAA has been a better produced version of what I’m used to from watching AAA in the past. There’s still progress to make, but I like what I’m seeing.
