Here’s what matters today in wrestling

The lack of opportunities Carmelo Hayes has received since getting called up to the main roster has some people wondering. He’s a talented wrestler that got to show his skills some during 2025, but 2026 hasn’t seen him do a whole heck of a lot. It’s easy to come to the conclusion that there must be some sort of backstage problem with Carmelo that we don’t know about. What other explanation would there be for his lack of usage? Sean Ross Sapp was asked about this and said that Hayes was thought of as dependable & professional with a high level of potential. That answers one question but leaves the question of why he isn’t doing anything unanswered.
This isn’t going to be a popular take, but I’m going to give it anyway. If you’re a fan of Carmelo’s, you need to have a little patience. I know “patience” is a dirty word to most people, and there also isn’t the guarantee that patience will actually lead to anything. I can give an example from last night’s Raw that still might not lead to anything, but is something that gave me some hope for the career of LA Knight. LA’s another one of those guys that fans have been waiting to see do something substantial. Tons of complaints out there about him not doing enough. Last night, he was standing tall over Roman Reigns and the Bloodline with a little help from Solo Sikoa. Does this mean that LA will be the guy to end Roman’s run as World Heavyweight Champion? Maybe not, but if the fans that claim that he deserves it and have been asking for something like this for a long time jump on board and give LA their full-throated support right now, maybe something big happens for him. It might take WWE awhile, but if you tell them what you want at least there’s a chance. The same thing goes for Carmelo Hayes, if people keep supporting him even if he loses to Baron Corbin one time, that probably says something to the brass.
At the end of the day, Carmelo Hayes is getting paid by WWE and getting married to Kelani Jordan. You can’t expect me to feel too sorry for this guy.

I’m old enough to remember when Drake Younger was just some independent wrestler that had matches on shows. He was pretty damn good for a deathmatch guy. Then he went to Florida to become a WWE referee, and somewhere during that timeframe he got Q-pilled and said & did a lot of regrettable things. It might be something in the air down there, I’m not sure. I understand people still being mad at Drake for having terrible opinions, but hopefully a lot of the people that had terrible opinions and enabled terrible people to do terrible things during the 2010s & 20s will be looking for forgiveness at some point. Some of them will be unforgivable, but we’ll have to forgive some of them and give them credit for seeing the light. Drake seems to be on the correct path, and hopefully he’ll keep moving in that direction.

The part where Big Sexy talks about watching people on the beach is a little odd, but other than that I think we can all relate to how he’s feeling about the wrestling these days. We all go through periods where there’s other things commanding our attention. Wrestling goes through periods where it’s just not as interesting. Right now, the topic generating the most interest from fans is whether young wrestlers should set up chairs at wrestling shows or not. I mean, I was able to come up with an opinion last week, but a week passes and we’re still on that? No wonder Kevin Nash is embracing the idea of being a peeping Tom in his later years if that’s the best he’s got to opine on as far as wrestling goes.
